Addiction Support

If you are looking for addiction support, I would suggest that it is helpful to talk to your GP first. Your GP should be able to access various screening tools to help determine if there are any physical health concerns that need to be addressed.
Overcoming problematic addictive behaviours can be hard and I believe it is best to get the appropriate medical help while trying to do the emotional and intellectual therapeutic work.

Depending on the severity of the addictive behaviours and the impact on family and friends, it can be really useful to access the statutory and voluntary agencies that have long standing experience in this area of work, and who have staff teams that can support you through the different stages of your recovery.
Help for family members and friends is also available through these agencies.

If you are concerned about problematic alcohol or drug use, free support is available from Bristol Drugs Project.
If your are concerned about problematic gambling, free support is available from GamCare.
